My dryer is taking two cycles to dry a normal load. Is that the vent or the machine?
In Jacksonville it's usually the vent, and the reason is humidity. Our dew points stay high most of the year, so the air being pulled through the duct is already damp. Lint that would stay dry and loose in a drier climate packs into a felted layer against the duct wall here, and that layer keeps building until airflow drops. If the drum is heating fine but clothes come out warm and still damp, that's a restriction downstream, not a bad element. Sometimes the run also takes a couple of extra elbows to get around framing that was never meant to have a duct through it.
